Ian Leung is an actor, director, playwright and producer based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He holds a B.F.A. in acting and an M.F.A. in theatre direction, both from the University of Alberta. As an actor, he has worked for companies across Canada, including Workshop West, Theatre Network and the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton, and the Gateway Theatre, Neptune Theatre, the National Arts Centre and the Stratford and Shaw Festivals elsewhere. He has been a freelance director since 2007, most notably staging theatre no. 6‘s first production and his own first play, U: The Comedy of Global Warming, in December 2009. Since then he has directed Wallace Shawn’s The Fever and Michael Healey’s Proud for theatre no. 6, as well as The Other Side of the Pole for Prime Stock Theatre in Red Deer. He regularly teaches an acting course for the University of Alberta’s Department of Drama and is currently working on a new play.
